After the cancellation of Justice League Unlimited, producer James Tucker was asked to work on a new Batman project. Tucker decided to stray from the current mythology of the character and take him back to the Silver Age where he can be a fun-loving adventurer.
The idea of the show was to take Batman out of Gotham City and away from his Rogues Gallery and place him in different settings and team him up with different superheroes. This concept was first realized in the Brave and the Bold comic books from the 60s, which is why the show is modeled after the Silver Age.
Many were worried that this new "fun" Batman was being made for little kids, but viewers were quickly proven wrong when the show debuted on November 14, 2008 on the Nicktoons Network.
