The first Marvel animated series to be made for television was The Marvel Super Heroes in 1966. The show was produced by Grantray-Lawrence Animation and featured a rotating cast of classic Marvel characters.
Captain America was the star of the show every Monday beginning September 1. Each episode was lifted straight out of issues of Tales of Suspense and Avengers and featured some of the best stories from the early days of the silver age Captain America from as he battled the Red Skull, Baron Zemo and the Masters of Evil.
The animation was extremely limited with most of the artwork lifted straight from the comic books. However, the series was quite popular as it was the first time anyone had seen these characters move.
Captain America ran for thirteen half-hour episodes, each containing three short chapters for a total of 39 chapters.
