Shazam! Theme Song

The theme song for the Shazam! segment of the Kid Super Power Hour serves as the origin story for the show's star, Captain Marvel. Narrator Norm Prescott (also one of the show's executive producers) explains how young Billy Batson was picked by the powerful wizard, Shazam, to become the hero Captain Marvel whenever his name is declared. Each letter of Shazam's name stands for a Greek God from which Captain Marvel gains his super powers.

  • Solomon - Wisdom
  • Hercules - Strength
  • Atlas - Stamina
  • Zeus - Power
  • Achilles - Courage
  • Mercury - Speed

  • Mary Marvel also shouts "Shazam" to gain her powers, but each letter of the name represents a female Greek God:

  • Selena - Grace
  • Hippolyta - Strength
  • Ariadne - Skill
  • Zephyrus - Speed
  • Aurora - Beauty
  • Minerva - Wisdom

  • This is Billy Batson, star reporter for station W-I-Z-Z TV. He has been picked by the ancient wizard Shazam to carry on the wizard's life-long crusade against crime and the forces of evil. When Billy speaks the wizard's name, "Shazam", Billy becomes Captain Marvel fighting champion, combining the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury!

Billy's twin sister, Mary Bastion, has also been granted special powers. When she speaks the word "Shazam" she becomes Mary Marvel, blending the grace of Selena with the best qualities of other Godesses whose names combined form the word Shazam!

The third member of the mighty trio is their friend, lame newsboy Freddy Freeman. When he speaks the name of his idol, "Captian Marvel", Freddy becomes the powerful Captain Marvel Junior!

Together, they are the Mighty Marvels, dedicated to fighting the forces of evil throughout the universe!
