The final season of Super Friends saw the title change completely to reflect Kenner's new Super Powers toy line. Each episode was a half hour, with the exception of two episodes which contained two stories.
The main cast included Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Robin, Firestorm and new recruit Cyborg. Many of the Super Friends from past seasons made guest appearances, however, all of the 'diversity cast' and the Wonder Twins were cut, except for Samurai who appears in one episode.
Joker and Penguin make their Super Friends debut, and Batman's origin story is told for the first time outside of the comics in the episode The Fear.
The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians marks the end of Hanna-Barbera's 13-year long Super Friends history on ABC.
