Review (Warning! Spoilers!): The thing that I really enjoy most about this series is the humour. I have been reading Fantastic Four comics for years and it always has a lighter tone than book like Batman or X-Men. So to see a series based the comic that doesn't take itself too seriously is really nice because it is something different.
By establishing itself as a action/comedy right off the bat, it frees the writers up to be more creative and outlandish, and when it comes to a serious episode like Hard Knocks, it doesn't feel out of place.
My Neighbor was a Skrull is a funny episode. This is partially due to the Skrulls being a moronic race, but Joseph Kelly really shows his stuff as a comedy writer with the hilarious one-liners and dialogue. Mr. Fantastic met Mrs. Monet on the moon after she flew there in her flying bathtub? Hilarious!
And a good job to the voice actors who had to put on many different styles all in one episode. It was a pleasure to listen to.
Usually funny episodes are filler episodes, but not with this one. If you are familiar with your Fantastic Four history, you should know that the one Skrull that was called by name, Commander Kl'rt, is none other than the infamous Super-Skrull who possesses the powers of each of the Fantastic Four! The Skrulls collecting samples of each of the FF is obviously set up for a future episode when the Super-Skrull comes to town.
And a nice little twist ending featuring a certain Kree warrior. Could we actually see a Kree/Skrull war in this series?
