Review (Warning! Spoilers!): The Force Phantom is the first episode of the New Adventures of Superman series by Filmation. It was considered to be a continuation of the live-action George Reeve's Adventures of Superman, hence the "New" in the title.

This episode is typical for a cartoon series premiere from the 60s. It doesn't introduce us to the character, but instead assumes that we already know the Man of Steel. And who doesn't? Superman was a very popular character at the time and was his popularity that put Filmation on the map.

As far as the actual episode goes, it is a very familiar Filmation plot with short, ugly aliens trying to destroy the Earth. We get to meet Perry White and see a little of Clark Kent's life at the Daily Planet.

The animation is very crude, moving only when necessary, due to Filmation's very tight budget at the time (later seasons of the show look much better), but there is still a sense of power behind Superman's actions and the drawing themselves are very good.

This episode is called The Force Phantom but the Damosians call it the Force Creature all throughout the episode. I wonder why?
