Brave and the Bold Third Season to Be the Last!

It was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that the third season of Batman: the Brave and the Bold will be the last. The show, which when first announced was met with a backlash of naysayers, has developed an incredible fanbase, due to clever writing, fun stories, plenty of action and guest stars galore! Many were saddened by the news, but perked up when produced James Tucker hinted that he is working on an all-new Batman cartoon, this time in CGI and much darker and more serious than Brave and the Bold.

The remaining 13 episodes of season two will begin in September, with the 13-episode third season to air in 2011. This will bring the total number of episodes to 65, which is a very respectable number for a cartoon series these days, especially for one on Cartoon Network.

It was revealed that there will be even more new guest stars in the new season, including Superman, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, and Vicky Vale, as well as the return of Robin and Batmite!

Plus, Andrea Romano let it slip that Batman will be teaming up with Scooby-Doo and the gang! This is yet another throw back to Batman's obscure past as the Dynamic Duo teamed up with Mystery Inc. in two episodes of The New Scooby-Doo Movies in 1972! Here's Romano with the news:

Young Justice Trailer and Other Juicy Info!

I know that Comic-Con is now a distant memory, but more recent news plus a busy life has prevented me from posting this article, as well as the Brave and the Bold article that I'll post in a little bit. So, I know that most of you who do the blog circuit or follow other major superhero/animation websites probably know this stuff already, but here it is on my blog for posterity.

There was plenty of Young Justice information given out to many eager fans who are looking very forward to the next DC Animated series which is set to air on Cartoon Network this fall. Here are some of the details.

Robin/Dick Grayson - Jesse McCartney
Kid Flash/Wally West - Jason Spizak
Aqualad - Khary Payton
Superboy/Connor Kent - Nolan North
Miss Martian - Danica McKellar.

Unlike Justice League, these heroes will have civilian appearances. The tone of the show will be very serious, even including a possible death of a main character. There are plans for Mary Marvel, Wonder Girl, Arrowette, and Tempest.

The Justice League, 16 members large, will play an important role in the series.
1. Rob Lowe will voice Captain Marvel, an important recurring role. Included on the roster are Batman (Bruce Greenwood), Aquaman (Phil LaMarr), Green Arrow (Alan Tudyk), Captain Marvel (Rob Lowe), Wonder Woman, Superman, Hawkgirl, Hawkman, Martian Manhunter, Hal Jordan, Flash, Zatara, Captain Atom, Black Canary, John Stewart, and Red Tornado. The designs look to be the same as from Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths.

Young Justice will act as an undercover unit in the Justice League to combat increasingly efficient supervillains as the Justice League's high profile prevents them from stopping more and more criminals.

Thoughts? Are you looking forward to this series? I know I am!

Paul Dini Joins Ultimate Spider-Man Team!

A new Spider-Man series, based on the popular Ultimate Spider-Man comic books, is well underway, but now a new, exciting announcement comes our way:

Best known for his groundbreaking series, Batman: the Animated Series, Paul Dini will be joining the creative staff behind the Wall-Crawler's latest foray into animation.

The series is already being developed by the "Man of Action" team of Ben 10 creators Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, and Steven T. Seagle as well as Ultimate Spider-Man comic book creator Brian Michael Bendis, and produced by Jeph Loeb. The addition of Paul Dini to the series brings even more credibility to the much anticipated series.

You can read an interesting article at MTV Splashpage, but here are some highlights:

We're going to be pairing him up with new and different Marvel characters. There's going to be a lot of guest-star action, and there's going to be a redefinition of Peter Parker within the Spider-Man world.

For now, I just want to approach Spider-Man with fresh eyes, taking a few things we know about him and just doing a new spin on the concept. I think old-time fans will find what we've done with the character to be pretty good and thoughtful, because we're not out to junk-up Spider-Man. That's not our intent.

There's 26 episodes in front of us, and we're breaking it into two increments.

What do you think? Recipe for success or too many cooks in the kitchen?

Shazam Images Revealed!

Here is your first look at the upcoming Superman/Shazam! The Return of Black Adam animated short that will headline the DC Showcase compilation DVD this fall.

In Superman/Shazam! The Return of Black Adam, Clark Kent's latest interview subject is street kid Billy Batson. What Clark doesn't know is that Billy is more than a feisty kid with a lot of heart – he has been chosen by an ancient wizard to represent the good of man as the World's Mightiest Mortal just by invoking the name of the wizard, "Shazam!" Billy's powers come none-too-soon, as he also discovers he's being pursued by a centuries' old, murderous villain, Black Adam – a foe so powerful, even Superman can't stop him alone. The all-star cast of Superman/Shazam! The Return of Black Adam is led by Jerry O'Connell (Crossing Jordan) as Captain Marvel, George Newbern reprising his Justice League role as Superman, Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy) as Black Adam and two-time Emmy Award® winner James Garner (8 Simple Rules) as The Wizard.

The combined running time of the four shorts in this disc is 62 minutes, with this 22-minute short being the only new content. This price might be a bit high if you already have the other shorts that came packaged with recent DC movies, but if these images are the tip of the iceberg, you may want to shell out the dough! I'm looking forward to it.
