  New Spectre Information and Pictures!

Warner Home Video has released some new information about the upcoming Spectre short film:

From the creative forces behind the PG-13 "DC Universe Animated Original Movie" line, "DC Showcase" puts the spotlight on favorite characters from throughout the annals of DC Comics in fascinating, short-form tales sure to entertain longtime and new fans alike.

The Spectre focuses on a detective story with an ethereal twist, featuring the otherworldly character originally introduced by DC Comics in 1940. The short is written by Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and directed by Joaquim Dos Santos (G.I Joe: Resolute). The voice cast is led by Gary Cole (Entourage) as the title character and Alyssa Milano (Charmed) as Aimee Brenner.

The Spectre will be distributed February 23 by Warner Home Video as part of the Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths Blu-ray/DVD.

"DC Showcase" is a co-production from Warner Premiere, Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Home Video and DC Comics. Bruce Timm is Executive Producer. Future "DC Showcase" titles include Jonah Hex (written by Joe Lansdale).

Three images have also been released featuring the Spectre, Detective Corrigan and Aimee Brenner, and special effects wizard Drew Flynn.

The Spectre will be packaged with the Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths 2-Disc Special Edition DVD and Blu-ray, which will hit the stores on February 23.

  • DC TV pilot episodes (live-action) Wonder Woman, Aquaman
  • Trailers
  • Digital Copy Online

  • There are a few things worthy of greater attention:

    DC Showcase: The Spectre

The Spectre gets his moment in the spotlight in the first of what will hopefully be a long line of animated shorts!

A First Look at Batman: Under the Red Hood

The next DC animated movie will star the Dark Knight and feature the Red Hood who, if you don't know already, was the Joker before his chemical bath. This could be a Joker origin story, an adaptation of the popular Killing Joke story with a more PG title, or it could be an adaptation of Under the Hood, a recent Batman story in which Jason Todd, a former Robin who got beaten to death by the Joker, comes back from the grave under the guise of the Red Hood. I'm guessing the former.

DC TV pilot episodes (live-action) Wonder Woman, Aquaman

Just to clarify, the Wonder Woman pilot is from the classic 1976 series starring Linda Carter, and the Aquaman pilot is the canceled Smallville spin-off, Mercy Reef. Why they are on this DVD/Blu-ray is beyond me.

      Crisis Voice Actors Speak Up

VoicesFromKrypton.com has interviewed the main cast of the upcoming direct-to-dvd feature film, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths and has shared it with the world. Here are a few snippets from the article:

    Billy Baldwin on voicing Batman:

I was mostly focused on getting into the rhythm of how the character speaks, because a lot of his dialogue can be incredibly challenging emotionally.

    Mark Harmon on voicing Superman:

To me, growing up watching Superman on black and white television or reading it in the comic books, all the superhuman things he did were cool. But the things that attracted me are really the human part of the character, or at least the part that was more real. Hopefully that's what I brought to that.

    James Woods on voicing Owlman:

Owlman and Super Woman, who's Wonder Woman's dark side, have this strange power hungry kind of – I won't call it love affair, but certainly a strange attraction. And it is the dark side of love, so it involves a kind of power and domination.

Gina Torres on voicing Super Woman:

There is no trick to capturing villainy. Everybody has different sides to them. Everybody has that that inner villain that you want to sort of break out and express. It's a good time going out there and letting her come out. Lock good Gina in the closet and have evil Gina come out and play!

Chris Noth on voicing Lex Luthor:

I was extremely excited to be playing the ultimate villain from my youth, so I was very surprised to see that in this world Lex is actually on the right side of the law. That required a whole new thinking on my part on how to approach him.

This movie is looking really good. Check out the all star cast: Billy Baldwin as Batman, Mark Harmon as Superman, Chris Noth as Lex Luthor, Gina Torres as Superwoman, James Woods as Owlman!

The featurette gives a little insight from the creators into the thought behind the next DC Universe Animated Original Movie which is set for release in Spring 2010.       Next DC Animated Film is Crisis! Plus, Public Enemies Clips!

Warner Home Video has released a statement that gives us a little look into the next DC Universe Animated Original Movie! The next project is called Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths.

Warner Home Video will distribute in Spring 2010 (finalizing date soon) an original story from award-winning animation/comics writer Dwayne McDuffie (Justice League) rooted in DC Comics' popular canon of Crisis stories.

Bruce Timm (Superman Doomsday, Green Lantern) is executive producer. Lauren Montgomery (Wonder Woman, Green Lantern) and Sam Liu (Superman/Batman: Public Enemies) are co-directors.

In Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, a "good" Lex Luthor arrives from an alternate universe to recruit the Justice League to help save his Earth from the Crime Syndicate, a gang of villainous characters with virtually identical super powers to the Justice League. What ensues is the ultimate battle of good versus evil in a war that threatens both planets and, through a diabolical plan launched by Owlman, puts the balance of all existence in peril.

All-star voice cast led by Mark Harmon (NCIS) as Superman, James Woods (Ghosts of Mississippi) as Owlman, Chris Noth (Sex and the City, Law & Order) as Lex Luthor, William Baldwin (Dirty Sexy Money) as Batman, Gina Torres (Serenity, Firefly) as Super Woman and Bruce Davison (X-Men) as the President.

And don't forget that Superman/Batman: Public Enemies will be released in a few weeks on September 29. Here are a few video clips to get you in the mood:
