Crisis Special Features and Box Art - Plus the Title of the Next DC Animated Movie!

More information for the upcoming DVD movie, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, has been revealed! The 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray, which will hit the stores on February 23, will include the following special features:

  • DC Showcase: The Spectre
  • A First Look at Batman: Under the Red Hood
  • Green Lantern First Look
  • Superman/Batman: Public Enemies First Look
  • Wonder Woman: The Amazon Princess
  • The New World Featurette (Blu-ray contains a special Extended Cut)
  • Bruce Timm's Top Picks: JLU episodes A Better World, Parts 1 and 2, Twilight, Parts 1 and 2
  • DC TV pilot episodes (live-action) Wonder Woman, Aquaman
  • Trailers
  • Digital Copy Online

  • There are a few things worthy of greater attention:

    DC Showcase: The Spectre

The Spectre gets his moment in the spotlight in the first of what will hopefully be a long line of animated shorts!

A First Look at Batman: Under the Red Hood

The next DC animated movie will star the Dark Knight and feature the Red Hood who, if you don't know already, was the Joker before his chemical bath. This could be a Joker origin story, an adaptation of the popular Killing Joke story with a more PG title, or it could be an adaptation of Under the Hood, a recent Batman story in which Jason Todd, a former Robin who got beaten to death by the Joker, comes back from the grave under the guise of the Red Hood. I'm guessing the former.

DC TV pilot episodes (live-action) Wonder Woman, Aquaman

Just to clarify, the Wonder Woman pilot is from the classic 1976 series starring Linda Carter, and the Aquaman pilot is the canceled Smallville spin-off, Mercy Reef. Why they are on this DVD/Blu-ray is beyond me.

Captain Marvel on Brave and the Bold

Lucky IGN.com gets a lot of neat exclusives. Now, they have an exclusive clip of Captain Marvel's debut appearance in an upcoming season two episode of Batman: the Brave and the Bold! Lucky for us, IGN allows video embedding, so here it is for all of you to enjoy!

Captain Marvel will be voiced by Jeff Bennett, and Billy Batson by Tara Strong.

It is interesting to note that it looks like the designs of Billy Batson and Captain Marvel are updated designs from Filmation's Kid Super Power Hour with Shazam. An excellent homage.

      Crisis Voice Actors Speak Up

VoicesFromKrypton.com has interviewed the main cast of the upcoming direct-to-dvd feature film, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths and has shared it with the world. Here are a few snippets from the article:

    Billy Baldwin on voicing Batman:

I was mostly focused on getting into the rhythm of how the character speaks, because a lot of his dialogue can be incredibly challenging emotionally.

    Mark Harmon on voicing Superman:

To me, growing up watching Superman on black and white television or reading it in the comic books, all the superhuman things he did were cool. But the things that attracted me are really the human part of the character, or at least the part that was more real. Hopefully that's what I brought to that.

    James Woods on voicing Owlman:

Owlman and Super Woman, who's Wonder Woman's dark side, have this strange power hungry kind of – I won't call it love affair, but certainly a strange attraction. And it is the dark side of love, so it involves a kind of power and domination.

Gina Torres on voicing Super Woman:

There is no trick to capturing villainy. Everybody has different sides to them. Everybody has that that inner villain that you want to sort of break out and express. It's a good time going out there and letting her come out. Lock good Gina in the closet and have evil Gina come out and play!

Chris Noth on voicing Lex Luthor:

I was extremely excited to be playing the ultimate villain from my youth, so I was very surprised to see that in this world Lex is actually on the right side of the law. That required a whole new thinking on my part on how to approach him.

      Super Hero Squad Show Ratings

Since its debut, there has been much speculation whether or not Super Hero Squad is a good show. Many Marvel fans have been quite vocal in various online forums about how much they dislike the show. But guess what! Someone out there likes it because the show is doing great! Check out these numbers:

The sneak peek on Monday September 14 saw the show rank as number one for boys two to 17 on all cable and broadcast networks. It also landed as the top rated show of the year for boys two to 11 in its time period.

On the official broadcast premiere on Saturday, September 19 at 8:30 a.m., the show was the top program on CN year-to-date for boys six-to-eight, finding a home in the top five programs on the channel. In addition, it was the top performer in boys six to 11.

Younger viewers also tuned in, bringing The Super Hero Squad Show to number six overall, with the 9 a.m. premiere helping to grow the boys two to five demo by 245% from the prior week's timeslot. Meanwhile, the 8:30 a.m. debut upped the boys two to five, two to 11 and six to 11 demos up 137%, 33% and 16% respectively from the prior week's timeslot.

Love it or hate it, you can't deny these ratings. The show is a hit, and while it may not be your style, keep in mind that it probably isn't being made for you.

Take a look at it from a quality perspective. It has great animation and character designs, the voice acting has been really good, and the plots, while they may seem a bit superficial, are entertaining and funny, plus they aim to teach some good values. All of this adds up to a good show. I have no problem saying that I like this show a lot, and encourage all of you that are on the fence to check it out.
